First Moon Blessing

A changing body, a new chapter, and a circle of care. A gentle way to honour your First Moon, with room for your feelings, your questions & your own sense of the sacred.

Imagine Imagine a young girl approaching their first menstruation - or honouring it afterwards - with understanding, support & a sense of the sacredness of their body.

Imagine a girl sitting in a circle of women she knows and trusts. Perhaps her mother is beside her, her grandmother nearby, and beloved aunties & friends have gathered to share in this moment. There are stories, laughter, and gentle words of reassurance. One woman offers a blessing, another a meaningful gift. Each brings something she wishes she had known when her own first period arrived. As the young girl listens, she feels the warmth of their care, and knows she has people she can turn to as her body changes.

A First Moon Blessing ceremony is a sacred & intentional way to honour a young girl’s first menstruation, and to support them through this time of growth and discovery.

I believe it is deeply important for our young people to know that their bodies deserve care, respect and kindness. A ceremony can offer space to ask questions, express feelings, and approach menstruation with understanding. Whether there is excitement, uncertainty, pride or a little of everything, all of these feelings are welcome.

Perhaps your family knows this transition as Maidenhood, and wishes to honour it through women’s stories and traditions. Perhaps you would like to create a new tradition together. The ceremony can reflect the young person’s own sense of who they are, with their wishes guiding what is shared, who is present, and how this personal milestone is marked.

Your gathering might include creating a special keepsake, sharing words of wisdom, offering blessings, or simply spending meaningful time together. At its heart is a gentle message: you are loved, your body is worthy of respect, and you have support as you grow.

To a First Moon Blessing ceremony I bring:

·       A passion for women’s ceremony & a
wealth of ceremony experience

·       Authenticity, honesty, patience, respect
& understanding

·       A gentle respect for each young
person’s privacy, comfort & wishes

·       An appreciation of the strength and
connection found in gathering together
in sacredness
